I’m going to try some new things with balancing my workload next week and see if there’s any way I can start posting more often than a page a week. I’ll let you know next Thursday how it goes!

gay, but more lonely than gay is 10000% mood. throwback to teen me lol
also good on him to just come out with it (heh) instead of playing games.
Daniel is Tumblr. Just… all of Tumblr.
Haha I absolutely, 100% agree. I’ve actually been thinking of making a Tumblr page for him, but like posting on it as if I were him, especially now that we’re in a part of the story that doesn’t feature him quite as much.
The look on mr. Douglas face on the 3rd panel is priceles!!
And now, THAT was a blow in the story, hahahah!
To date, that’s probably my favorite expression I’ve gotten to draw so far. Definitely at least the most interesting to try and capture. And we’re almost out of the car scene! I’m trying to push myself a bit more so I can finish ASAP!
Wow, that was raw. Very interested in what Teacher-Sensei will have to say about that one. Is the town they’re living in small or in the south? Or is there another reason why Daniel can’t get his dose of the D somewhere else?
Pete Rock sounds great. Perfect for the study sessions I have ahead of me. I’ve been actually listening to nothing but Ancient Astronauts for the last 2 weeks, since I’m trying to transcribe their drum stuff. So I have to get (really) old school this week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNzzF0M5hB0
Liebestraum by the same artist is also great. It’s like I have lyrics for it in my head, while listening, but can’t quite understand them. You could let your boys listen to the piece and let them try to figure out what their lyrics are about ^_^
I had a lot of fun writing the dialogue on this page. Daniel just kind of losing it and blurting it all out, it was fun to play around with.
Offically, they’re in a made up town in Colorado named DeBussy. I don’t think it’s particularly conservative, but Daniel’s former sexual exploits will definitely be coming up a little later on in this chapter.
I didn’t get a chance to check out the song yet and I’m at work right now and these computers don’t have speakers, but I’ll check it out as soon as I can. Also, I’ve really been wanting to do quick little extra sidecomics with Daniel and J-Dog, and I think an analytical breakdown of song lyrics could be really fun to write.
awww he made a heart shaped stain! with his uhh, blood. cute!
There are definitely song lyrics in there somewhere.
I thought it was your take of ‘wearing your heart on your sleeve’ as he spilled it all that he liked or could really like him.
Was I wrong?
You are absolutely not wrong! I was indeed going for a literal version of him wearing his heart on his sleeve (which is the exact reason why it it appears that right as he’s giving his big confession). I’m glad someone caught that!
“I’m gay! Did I tell you to ‘keep going straight’? I don’t mean it like that! Because I’m gay! And I want you to be gay too! Also, I’m gay!”
Also J-Dog’s expression in the third panel is priceless xD: “ohmygod my ex-student is talking to me about dicks why is he talking to me about dicks how can i make him stop i’m not supposed to think about my ex-student and dicks at the same time oh no now i’m thinking it and i can’t stop why can’t i stop”
This will either go horribly wrong or horribly right: sometimes it takes an extra blunt person to break through an extra reserved person’s shell (and given the flashforward earlier, it probably went horribly right lol.)
Haha, you pretty much nailed exactly what I was going for with that expression.
Part of the fun in writing these two interacting comes from how completely different they are. Josiah is an English teacher who likes trying to be profound and maybe thinks he’s a little smarter than he actually is, and Daniel…well, Daniel doesn’t do metaphors very well.
awwwww the bebs
It’s too much fun to draw him sad. I think that might make me a bad person.
